Membership Criteria

New Zealand Chinese Building Industry Association (NZCBIA) Membership Criteria and Procedures.

NZCBIA members are divided into five categories:
 Corporate Member: should be a NZ registered company, and in business for at least three years and have at least one Chinese director.
 Individual members: a building industry professional who have more than three year working experience. Also need to provide evidences of personal qualifications. In this case, the applicant should not own the company.
 Junior members: a building industry professional who has less than three years of working experience.
 Associate Member: should be a NZ registered company, and in business for at least three years and have close relationship with the Chinese Building industry.
 Observation Members: a member who cannot provide the recommendation from two NZCBIA Board members, but want to participate in NZCBIA activities until further decision been made in 3 month time if it can be a formal member.

The basic standards to become a member:
 Must be qualified practitioners (including individuals and companies) with a variety of related qualifications or licenses.
 A good track record and industry reputation.
 Fill in the application form and get recommendation by at least two NZCBIA Board members.
 Pay annual membership fee on time.
 Compliance with moral of conduct for Members of the Association.

Materials required for application:
 Application form, resume, qualification certificate.

Additional criteria for Corporate Membership and Affiliate Membership
 Criteria for a Building Contractor
Applicant must be a company and must become a corporate member.
If applicant’s company is a residential building industry company then the applicant should be a Master Builder or Certified Builder member.
Provide the past 12 months GST record.
Reference from two board members.
The annual contract value should be not less than $5 million.

 Criteria for a Project Management Company
Applicant must be a registered company and must become a corporate member.
Provide sample project management contract with qualification certificate and standard.
Project managing the project value should be more than 10 million annually.
Reference from two board members.
Provide the past 12 months GST records and description of the project has done as areference.

 Criteria for a Developing Company
Applicant must be a registered company and must become a corporate member.
The annual development project value should be not less than $5 million.
Reference from two board members.
Should provide the past 12 months GST records and description of the project has done as a reference.

 Criteria for a Building Consulting Company
Applicant must be a registered company and must become a corporate member.
Provide qualification certificate and project reference.
Reference from two board members.
The working experience of the company's main designer should not less than three years.

 Criteria for a Material Supplying Company
Applicant must be a registered company and must become a corporate member.
Should provide the past 12 months GST records and the name of project recommender.
Reference from two board members.
The working experience of the company's main director should not less than three years.

New member application approval procedure
The new membership application will be discussed in the monthly board of directors meeting. After discussion and approval by the Board, the applicant will become a member of the Association.
